CORONADO CELEBRATES LOVE, HEALTH, AND FUN AT THE 14TH ANNUAL VALENTINE’S DAY 10K, 5K, & 1-MILE RUN

San Diego, Calif. – On Sunday, February 4, 2024, Coronado Island will be the enchanting backdrop for the 14th Annual Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K, and 1-Mile Fun Run, inviting participants to embark on a journey inspired by love. This unique event promises an extraordinary experience, featuring jeweled heart-shaped gold medals and exclusive ¼ Zip Long Sleeve Race Shirts. In a heartfelt addition, a Valentine’s Day matchmaking event and wedding vow renewals will take place at the starting line.
Runners are drawn to the swift and level course of the Valentine’s Day 10K & 5K, aiming for personal bests. In 2024, the event encourages participants not only to pursue their running goals but also to explore or rekindle their connections with love. Race bibs will display one of three messages: ‘Available,’ ‘Taken,’ and ‘It’s Complicated,’ introducing a matchmaking element to foster social interactions in the spirit of the Valentine’s Day holiday. Once again, participants have the option to renew their wedding vows in a group ceremony at the starting line.
Celebrating its fourteenth year, the Coronado Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K, and 1-Mile Fun Run is renowned for its expert race management and meticulous attention to detail. The race, reaching full capacity annually, will be held a week earlier this year on Sunday, February 4th, allowing participants to engage in Super Bowl festivities the following weekend.
Previous editions of the event have witnessed touching love stories unfold, with participants proposing at the finish line and exchanging vows at the start. Carrie Panek of KOZ Events expresses excitement for the upcoming year, stating, "In 2024, we're bringing back wedding vow renewals at the starting line. Last year, over 200 individuals reaffirmed their love—a heartwarming way to celebrate Valentine's Day, embracing couples, singles, families, and friends. It's a joyful start to the new year, inviting all couples to renew their vows before embarking on the run or walk, with distances beginning at just 1 mile, making it accessible for everyone."
Registration for the Coronado Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K, & 1-Mile Fun Run includes a commemorative ¼ zip long sleeve race shirt, unique jeweled finisher medals, Tiki Mask awards for top finishers, chip timing, and a live band. The 1-Mile Fun Run, the first event on the schedule, is designed for parents to run alongside their kids before tackling the 5K or 10K.
